House of Lucie Athens proudly presents Jamel’s Shabazz, City Metro: Photos from 1980 – 2020 .

Jamel Shabazz (2023 Lucie Honoree for Documentary) has been photographing his native New York City since the 1970s.
Famous for documenting the style, joy, and everyday living across communities, Shabazz has always focused on the human connection that photography can bring. Featuring both iconic and previously unseen photographs, City Metro showcases this vibrant display of life found on the city streets and hidden in the underground world of the subway. Spanning a 40-year period, these photographs are a testament to the enduring power and resilience of New York City’s people and culture.

The exhibition is part of the Athens Photo Festival Satellite Program.
